GVMC to Conduct Summer Sports Camps at 486 Centres

Visakhapatnam: The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) is set to launch its annual Summer Sports Coaching Camps from May 25 to June 6 at 486 centres across the city, benefiting 12,036 boys and girls aged between 8 and 16 years.
GVMC commissioner Ketan Garg said the camps would be inaugurated at Swarna Bharathi Indoor Stadium on May 25.
On Thursday, the commissioner reviewed arrangements with GVMC additional commissioner P. Nallanayya, sports director E.A. Raju and members of the Summer Coaching Camp Monitoring Committee. He directed officials to ensure smooth conduct of the camps by making all necessary arrangements in advance.

Training will be offered in 41 sports disciplines. Visakhapatnam District Olympic Association president Suryanarayana and others are serving on the monitoring committee.
The commissioner also directed the drinking water department to ensure adequate facilities at every centre and asked officials to coordinate with medical teams for health support.
He said banners would be installed at all centres for publicity, while students must register online and maintain compulsory attendance. The camps will also be promoted widely on social media.
