GVMC Assets Worth ₹150 Crore Under Threat, Says JS Leader
Jana Sena leader Peethala Murthy Yadav sought action to protect GVMC lands worth around ₹150 crore from alleged encroachments.

Jana Sena leader Peethala Murthy Yadav has urged Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan to intervene and protect GVMC lands worth around ₹150 crore from alleged encroachments. He accused corrupt officials of colluding with private individuals to privatise long-standing municipal properties using flawed survey reports and political pressure. Murthy Yadav regretted that some public representatives were backing such efforts, contrary to the government's commitment to safeguarding public assets. He recalled Pawan Kalyan's campaigns against land encroachments during the previous YSRC regime and his continued focus on protecting parks and public lands in Visakhapatnam. The dispute involves a 1.25-acre GVMC property at Akkayyapalem and 3,660 square yards at Waltair Ward, including Lendi Vanam and Baba Chavidi Park. Murthy Yadav questioned why recommendations were being made to hand over or compensate private claimants despite High Court rulings favouring GVMC. He urged NDA legislators to protect civic assets and uphold transparent governance.
