Guntur Police Launch Anti-drug Awareness Film

VIJAYAWADA: Guntur district police have launched a two-minute awareness film, “Drugs Vaddu Bidda – A Battle Against Drugs”, to discourage students and youngsters from using drugs and sensitise parents to monitor their children’s behaviour, habits and friends.
Rajya Sabha member Bhashyam Ramakrishna and Guntur Superintendent of Police Vakul Jindal launched the film at a preview show at Maitri Cinema Complex under Nagarampalem police station limits in Guntur.

Ramakrishna praised Jindal’s efforts to protect youth and curb drug abuse. Jindal said the film would be screened in theatres and widely circulated through social media after obtaining the necessary permissions.
Jindal said police had arrested around 450 persons involved in the trade and supply of ganja and seized 141 kg of ganja, four kg of liquid ganja and 5.783 grams of MDMA. Police had also opened 28 rowdy sheets and 582 suspect sheets, while nine repeat ganja offenders had been detained under the PIT-NDPS Act.
Through Sankalpam-325, more than 70,000 college students had been sensitised against drugs, he said, calling for collective efforts by police, parents, teachers, students and the public to build a drug-free society.
