Guntur Police Destroys Dry, Liquid And Hydro Cannabis

VIJAYAWADA: Guntur SP Satish Kumar and EAGLE Cell SP Nagesh Kumar said from 2016 to 2024 across the district, they registered 113 cases in 17 police stations, seized 1.868 kg of cannabis (leaf), 2.233 litres of cannabis (liquid), 0.023 grams of MDMA and other synthetic drugs, which they systematically burnt at the Jindal Waste to Energy Plant near Obulanaidupalem village under Nallapadu police station limits in Guntur on Tuesday in accordance with the rules of the Narcotics Control Board.
Satish Kumar said this year (2025), 44 cases have been registered so far in Guntur district in which 143.96 kg of dry cannabis, 1.172 litres of liquid cannabis, 500 grams of hydro cannabis and other drugs have been seized in small quantities. Of the total 219 people accused in these cases, 173 have been arrested, the range of their age being between 14–40 years, 107 of them under 25 years.

They have identified 36 drug abuse hotspots in Guntur district, which are under strict surveillance. Municipal authorities have been informed about demolishing these useless and dilapidated buildings and structures on the outskirts of Guntur.
EAGLE SP Nagesh Babu underlined that since the formation of their division, 68,000 kg of ganja has been seized so far with the help of enforcement departments. A new programme called Operation Chaitanyam has been launched to create among farmers to cultivate alternative crops instead of ganja.
