Guntur Police Bust 2 Ganja Rings, Arrest 11

VIJAYAWADA: Guntur district police on Saturday arrested 11 persons and seized 4.4 kg of ganja in two separate operations, superintendent of police Vakul Jindal said.
In the first case registered under the NDPS Act at Nagarampalem police station, six persons were arrested on January 9 from a vacant plot behind the irrigation department office in Ankamma Nagar. Police seized 1.2 kg of ganja from them.
The accused were identified as Meduri Hema Sai Chand, 28, Muthukuri Sai Ram, 25, Tanniru Nagasai, 19, Shaik Jani Basha, 20, Melam Yesu Murthy, 26, and Jonnalagadda Yuvaraju, 23. Some of them have previous criminal records, including Pocso and theft cases.
Police said the ganja was supplied by Gumma Sai, who is currently in remand at Arundelpet police station and had sourced the contraband from Odisha. The accused were allegedly selling ganja to arrange money for his bail and legal expenses.
In the second case, five persons were arrested on January 9 near VIP Road, and 3.2 kg of ganja was seized. The accused were identified as Paleti Salman Raju, 25, Gunji Hemanth Raju, 24, Sunkara Vamsi Krishna, 23, Pamula Raghuram Koti, 30, and Shaik Nagul Meera, 27.
According to police, the prime accused, a fruit vendor, procured ganja from the Araku area for ₹9,000 and was distributing it when police conducted the raid. All the accused have previous NDPS cases registered against them.
