Guntur Drafting Comprehensive Agricultural Action Plan for District
Speaking at the district-level “Rythanna Mee Kosam” conference in Guntur on Friday, the collector underlined that agriculture must transform into a profitable industry, as envisioned under the Swarnandhra Vision. “Every acre should ensure higher income,” she emphasised.

Vijayawada:Guntur district collector A. Tamim Ansaria wants drafting of a Comprehensive Agriculture Action Plan to strengthen farming and allied sectors in the district.
Speaking at the district-level “Rythanna Mee Kosam” conference in Guntur on Friday, the collector underlined that agriculture must transform into a profitable industry, as envisioned under the Swarnandhra Vision. “Every acre should ensure higher income,” she emphasised.
Ansaria asked farmers to make full use of government schemes, while advising all related departments to coordinate with each other in helping farmers. She wanted adoption of scientific water management, market-driven crop choices, intercropping, modern technologies, and extensive use of drones.
The collector directed officials to document best agricultural practices and popularise them through all Rythu Seva Kendras. She assured that policy recommendations made by Rythanna Mee Kosam conference will be submitted to the government for turning them into a policy.
Agriculture joint director M. Padmavathi explained that 11,395 acres of the targeted sowing of 70,663 acres during Rabi has been completed. Irrigation facilities are available to nearly three lakh acres in the district. She reiterated use of drones and modern agricultural technologies for increased productivity.
Chief agricultural scientist Dr. C.V. Ramana observed that remunerative prices could lead to expansion of chilli cultivation.
DWMA project director V. Shankar said cattle rearing could be supported under the MGNREGS.
Others who participated in the conference included Animal Husbandry joint director K.V.V. Satyanarayana, Horticulture deputy director Ravindra Babu, Fisheries district officer P.N. Kiran Kumar, scientists Chandramohan Reddy and Shailaja, progressive farmers from various mandals, and members of Chilli Exporters’ Association.
