Guinness World Records Bid Planned For Godavari Pushkaralu
80 lakh pilgrims expected daily; 5,100 metres of temporary bathing ghats planned

Kakinada:East Godavari district collector Keerthi Chekuri said a comprehensive plan was being prepared to organise the Godavari Pushkaralu-2027 on a grand scale, with an estimated 80 lakh pilgrims expected daily over the 12-day event.
The district administration is also planning events aimed at setting Guinness World Records, including an Akhanda Nadi Harathi, a Kuchipudi dance performance involving 20,000 to 30,000 participants and world-class sanitation initiatives.
Keerthi Chekuri, along with Rajamahendravaram municipal commissioner Rahul Meena, briefed the Pushkaralu special officer and the principal secretary of the municipal administration and urban development on the preparations in East Godavari district during a video conference on Friday.
She said an action plan was being drawn up in coordination with 22 key departments. Of the expected 80 lakh pilgrims, 60 lakh are estimated to visit urban areas and 20 lakh rural areas.
To meet the sanitation requirements, 20,000 toilet and urinal units are planned. Around 8,000 sanitation workers will be deployed daily in three shifts.
The event is expected to generate up to 2,800 tonnes of solid waste a day. Special arrangements are being made for its collection, transportation and scientific disposal.
A transport plan is being developed to connect NH-16, NH-51E and the Greenfield Highway with toll gates, Pushkara Nagaras (temporary townships for pilgrims) and shuttle bus routes. Dedicated entry and exit routes to the ghats are also being planned to regulate the movement of pilgrims.
The administration is also planning accommodation facilities, including German-style hangars, tents for VIPs and VVIPs, tent cities and other lodging arrangements.
Keerthi said 5,100 metres of temporary bathing ghats would be constructed in the district to facilitate the movement of pilgrims towards rural areas and provide bathing facilities.
Plans also include the use of Digital Twin Technology, installation of barricades, sanitation and toilet facilities, and digital connectivity through Andhra Pradesh State FiberNet Limited (APSFL).
