Gudur Murder Case: CMS Helps Secure Double Life Sentence

The case was initially registered by then Gudur One Town SI Saidulu, investigated by then CI G. Dasaradha Rama Rao, and the charge sheet was later filed by CI M. Nageswaramma after completing the investigation.

Nellore: The court monitoring system (CMS) of the SPSR Nellore district police has helped secure a double life sentence in a sensational 2021 murder case, highlighting the impact of close coordination between investigators and prosecutors.

The VII additional district judge, Gudur, convicted Ravi Varma, alias Ravi, and Kalatturu Manasa in the murder of Manasa’s husband, Rupesh, sentencing both to life imprisonment and imposing a fine of Rs 50,000 each. Failure to pay the fine will attract an additional six months of rigorous imprisonment.

According to the prosecution, Rupesh, an electrician living in Gudur with his wife, was murdered on the night of February 18, 2021. Police said Manasa and Ravi Varma, who were allegedly involved in an extramarital relationship, conspired to eliminate Rupesh. He was fatally attacked with an iron rod.

Police said the district’s court monitoring system played a key role by ensuring timely production of witnesses, close coordination with the prosecution, and continuous tracking of the trial, leading to the conviction.

District SP Dr Ajitha Vejendla congratulated public prosecutor Kothapalli Vasantha Kumar and the Gudur One Town police team for securing the verdict, reiterating that the CMS would continue to ensure speedy justice and strict punishment for offenders.
