Group-I Evaluation Exposed YSRC Irregularities, Says Naidu
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu alleged irregularities in the evaluation of APPSC Group-I answer scripts under the previous YSRC government and called for a deeper probe.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday alleged that irregularities took place in the evaluation of APPSC Group-I answer scripts under the YSRC government’s term and said deserving candidates were made scapegoats by appointing the party’s preferred candidates.
The issue came up for discussion at a meeting Naidu held with ministers at the secretariat.
The CM and ministers expressed concern over reports that nearly 97 per cent of the Group-I answer scripts had been evaluated.
Ministers told Naidu that media reports had it that data entry operators evaluated answer scripts, and this caused widespread concern. They urged the CM to raise the issue during the forthcoming Assembly Session.
The ministers also sought a deeper probe, based on the SIT report, into the alleged role of the YSRC government and then APPSC secretary P.S.R. Anjaneyulu. They said the role of other officials also must be investigated.
Referring to a similar incident in Maharashtra in 2011, the ministers said candidates there had fought against alleged irregularities.
Naidu said the SIT report was before the court and the government would have to wait for its decision.
The CM said police officials had been tasked with gathering information on the roles of various persons in the Group-I examination controversy.
Minister Satya Prasad suggested obtaining details from candidates who had approached the court alleging injustice. Naidu directed officials to interact with them immediately and collect the details.
On the DSC recruitment, Naidu asserted that there had been no irregularities. He said the government was ready for a discussion if the YSRC raised the issue in the Legislative Council and directed the ministers to counter every allegation with documentary evidence.
The CM said officials had clarified all aspects. Deliberate attempts to tarnish the government’s image should be answered politically.
On Amaravati, Naidu said construction activity had gained momentum and a series of projects would soon be inaugurated.
