Visakhapatnam: Minister for micro, small and medium Enterprises Kondapalli Srinivas on Sunday said elaborate arrangements were under way for the inauguration of Bhogapuram International Airport on August 1.
Inspecting the preparations, the minister said the project had reached its final stage following close monitoring by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Union civil aviation minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu. He recalled that the project's foundation stone, statutory clearances and land acquisition were initiated during the tenure of former Union civil aviation minister Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju.
Srinivas appealed to people from North Andhra to attend the inauguration in large numbers and make the event a success.

District superintendent of police A.R. Damodar said elaborate security arrangements had been made, with deployment divided into four sectors covering venue security, public movement and traffic management.
Nellimarla MLA Lokam Naga Madhavi described the airport as a milestone in the development of North Andhra and urged people to participate in the inaugural event.
MARKFED chairman Karrotu Bangarraju, additional SP Sowmya Latha, RDO Sudha Sagar, GMR project head Rama Raju and officials from various departments also took part in the inspection.
