VIJAYAWADA: The state government has initiated action against 118 doctors accused of remaining absent from duty without authorisation over the past four years and is set to terminate the services of 43 civil assistant surgeons.
Health minister Satya Kumar Yadav said on Wednesday that the doctors were working under the directorate of secondary health services in departments such as general medicine, orthopaedics and gynaecology.
As part of the disciplinary process, the government has decided to terminate 43 doctors from service. Another 34 doctors submitted their resignations after charges were framed against them. Of these, the government is likely to accept the resignations of 15 doctors, while 11 will face departmental inquiries.
