Govt Sanctioned Rs 187 Cr for Urban Development: MLA

Kurnool: Panyam MLA Gowru Charitha announced that the government has given special focus to the urban development of Kallur, with the state government sanctioning ₹187 crore to address drinking water issues and improve infrastructure.

On Saturday, she participated in a review meeting with municipal officials, including Commissioner S. Ravindra Babu and sachivalayam staff, held at the Municipal Council Hall in SBI Employees Colony. The MLA highlighted that the Chief Minister has allocated rs 115 crore for the construction of a 50 MLD water treatment plant at Jagannatha Gattu, rs 22 crore for a 12 MLD plant at Puchalapalli Sundaraiah Park, and ₹50 crore for infrastructure development in Kallur urban wards.

She stressed the need for officials to take proactive measures to ensure timely utilisation of the sanctioned funds and smooth execution of the works. She directed them to prepare proposals to create infrastructure in each ward with a budget of rs 50 lakh, prioritising areas based on local needs.

Municipal Commissioner S. Ravindra Babu said that the civic body is committed to addressing city-wide issues in a phased manner and will also work towards a permanent solution to the drinking water problem. Following the review meeting, MLA Charitha laid the foundation stone for the construction of a CC drain worth rs 50 lakh in Ward 20, Badrinath Nagar.
