Govt Jobs Promised To Kin Of Slain TD Workers: Lokesh

Addressing party workers at Kakinada Rural mandal, Lokesh said the Assembly had already approved the policy and steps would be taken to give it statutory backing: Reports

KAKINADA: Telugu Desam National General Secretary and Human Resources Development Minister Nara Lokesh on Friday said the alliance government would provide a government job to one family member of Telugu Desam workers who lost their lives for the party.

Addressing party workers at Kakinada Rural mandal, Lokesh said the Assembly had already approved the policy and steps would be taken to give it statutory backing. As part of the decision, one family member of slain TD leader Thota Chandraiah would be provided a government job, he said.

Recalling sacrifices made by party workers, Lokesh said Anji Reddy of Punganur constituency, who stood firm against alleged atrocities of the previous regime, and Manjula of Palnadu, who fought on polling day amid violence until the last vote was cast, were sources of inspiration.

He said Thota Chandraiah had raised slogans of “Jai Chandrababu” and “Jai Telugu Desam” even when faced with death, and laid down his life for the party. “That is why I insisted that his family must be supported,” Lokesh said.

He asserted that such decisions would strengthen, not weaken, the Telugu Desam Party, and warned that those who sought to intimidate TD workers would be forced to think twice. He said the party would continue to take decisions in line with the will and welfare of its grassroots workers.
