Govt Intensifies Efforts To Address Kidney Disease in Tiruvuru
Krishna river water would be supplied to Tiruvuru, A. Konduru and Gampalagudem areas by the end of January to ensure safe drinking water to every household

Vijayawada: The state government has stepped up efforts to provide a permanent solution to the kidney ailment prevalent in the Tiruvuru Assembly constituency of NTR district through assured drinking water supply, expanded specialist care and nutritional support, collector Dr G. Lakshmisha and Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath (Chinni) said on Saturday.
Speaking at a nutrition kit distribution programme organised by the Kesineni Foundation in A. Konduru mandal, the collector said Krishna river water would be supplied to Tiruvuru, A. Konduru and Gampalagudem areas by the end of January to ensure safe drinking water to every household.
Dr Lakshmisha said works on the Krishna water supply project had been completed, while additional repairs were being taken up at a cost of ₹350 crore to ensure uninterrupted supply. He said nephrology services had been strengthened with free medicines, dialysis facilities and special medical teams to identify and treat patients. At present, 23 patients are undergoing dialysis in A. Konduru, while several others are under treatment.
He stressed the need for public cooperation, particularly from tribal communities, and called for lifestyle and dietary changes. The collector also appreciated the Kesineni Foundation for distributing monthly nutrition kits to 624 kidney patients.
MP Kesineni Sivanath said people of the region, who had been suffering for years, would soon get relief with the supply of Krishna water. He added that long-pending infrastructure works, including the Gampalagudem–Kattaleru bridge, would be taken up in April, along with other development projects in the constituency.
