Governor Says AP Will Become Asia’s Sustainable Development Hub

AP Governor Abdul Nazeer presented gold medals to top performing students on the occasion.

KAKINADA: AP Governor S. Abdul Nazeer, also the chancellor of government universities in the state, underlined that the state government’s deep technology initiatives will position Andhra Pradesh as a hub of sustainable development in Asia.

Presiding over the XII Convocation of the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada (JNTUK) on Thursday, the chancellor highlighted the proposed Amaravati Quantum Valley in AP under the National Quantum Mission. He pointed out that the remarkable initiative will integrate quantum computing, artificial intelligence, semiconductor research, and advanced technologies, creating new opportunities for innovation, employment, and scientific leadership.

On the occasion, the AP Governor conferred Honoris Causa on Padma Bhushan awardee K.I. Varaprasada Reddy, Founder and Chairman of Shantha Biotechnics, at the Alumni Auditorium in the JNTUK premises.

Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Nazeer pointed out that the world is witnessing unprecedented transformation driven by rapid technological advancements and digital innovation.

“Emerging domains, such as Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Quantum Computing, Data Science, and Big Data Analytics, Robotics and Intelligent Automation, the internet of Things, Blockchain Technology, Cyber Security, Renewable and Green Energy, Nanotechnology, 5G and Next-Gen Communications are reshaping industries and redefining the way societies function,” the AP Governor pointed out.

He exhorted universities to move beyond conventional teaching models and foster a culture of innovation, critical thinking, interdisciplinary learning, and research orientation and experiential, hands on experience. This will prepare students to address complex real-world challenges, he underlined.

Abdul Nazeer asked graduates of JNTUK to become industry-ready professionals with entrepreneurial thinking and become job generators rather than being job seekers.

Speaking on the occasion, JNTUK vice chancellor C.S.R.K. Prasad said that the university is a vital contributor to the national vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, while being equally committed to the Swarna Andhra 2047 transformative road map. He emphasised that JNTUK has revised the M. Tech curriculum and is actively updating undergraduate and doctoral programmes to reflect industry needs and global benchmarks.
