Governor and First Lady Grace Christmas Celebrations at Lok Bhavan

Governor highlights message of love, compassion and service taught by Jesus Christ

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Governor S. Abdul Nazeer, accompanied by First Lady Sameera Nazeer, attended Christmas celebrations as chief guests at Lok Bhavan on Tuesday, underscoring the universal message of love and compassion associated with Jesus Christ.

Addressing the gathering, the Governor described Christmas as a time of joyful remembrance of Jesus Christ, whose teachings of kindness, love and service continue to inspire humanity. “The life of Jesus Christ is a source of inspiration to all of us to lead a life of virtue and faith,” he said.

The celebrations began with Christmas carols rendered by students of Shamrock International School, Kanuru, which filled the venue with festive cheer.

Rev. J. V. Arun Kumar of the Andhra Evangelical Lutheran Church (AELC), Vijayawada, offered the opening prayer, followed by Bible readings by Rev. Dr G. Sarath of the Vijayawada Baptist Churches. Rev. Father Monsignor M. Prasad of the Roman Catholic Mission (RCM), Vijayawada, delivered the Christmas message.

The Governor was felicitated by several religious leaders, including Rev. I. Karunanidhi of the Church of South India (CSI), Rev. Dr Viswa Prasad of Maranatha Ministries, Rt. Rev. Dr Ch. Prem Kumar of the Evangelical Church of India (ECI), Vijayawada, and Rev. Father Monsignor M. Prasad, Vicar General of the RCM.

The Governor and the First Lady later participated in the traditional cake-cutting ceremony. Governor Nazeer also distributed prizes to children, spreading joy among those present.

The programme concluded with a closing prayer and benediction by Rev. Dr G. Deva Raju of the Godavari Diocesan Office of Presbyter (GDOP).

Joint Secretary to the Governor P. S. Surya Prakash, along with officers and staff of Lok Bhavan, attended the programme.
