Godavari Flood At Dowleswaram Likely To Recede From Sunday: SDMA

The SDMA control room is closely monitoring the situation and issuing real-time instructions to district administrations

Kakinada:State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) Managing Director Prakhar Jain stated that the Godavari flood level at Dowleswaram is expected to recede from Sunday, as per the Central Water Commission’s assessment.

As of 7 pm on Saturday, the river level at Bhadrachalam stood at 41.1 feet, with an inflow and outflow of 5.29 lakh cusecs at the Dowleswaram barrage.

The SDMA control room is closely monitoring the situation and issuing real-time instructions to district administrations. Emergency teams, including one SDRF unit in Dr Ambedkar Konaseema and two teams in Velerupadu and Kukkunur in Eluru district, are on standby for relief operations.

Residents in the Godavari catchment area have been advised to remain alert until the water level subsides completely. The public has been warned against swimming, fishing, travelling, or bathing in floodwaters.
