GLC in Amaravati to Prepare Future Leaders: Naidu

Vijayawada: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has urged corporate entities attending the Davos Meet to take responsibility for eradicating poverty and inequality.

“The people are India’s greatest asset,” the chief minister said in his address of the session held by the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) on Green Industrialization, at the World Economic Forum Summit.

In the presence of the CM, a letter of intent was exchanged between the IMD Business School Switzerland and the Global Leadership Centre (GLC) based in Amaravati, to enhance global leadership development.

Naidu emphasized the need for leveraging technologies like AI and real-time data to solve complex problems and improve everyday life. The GLC aimed at shaping future leaders, he told the meet.

"We have a demographic advantage. Indian entrepreneurs, especially those from Andhra Pradesh, are excelling globally, contributing to the world economy. India is poised to lead. Bloomberg has predicted that India will provide incremental GDP growth by 2027. From 2028, it will be the Indian era," Naidu claimed.

Chandrababu Naidu praised the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and acknowledged the role of Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran in steering the Swarnandhra 2047 economic development initiative.

Naidu spoke about his introduction of power reforms in 1999 amidst a national energy crisis. “The country was facing severe power shortages and industries had to shut down. Despite fears and challenges, I introduced critical reforms, which initially cost me an election. However, today we are reaping the benefits of those decisions,” he stated.

He said Andhra Pradesh has witnessed significant advancements in solar and wind energy, reducing energy costs. "Scaling and innovation are the keys to success," he said.

The CM reaffirmed his commitment to transforming AP into a clean energy hub, with a mission-mode approach to achieving sustainability goals. Key initiatives include: A massive $115 billion investment in the fuel sector to produce 500mt of renewable energy and 500 mmt of green energy by 2030, contributing some 30 per cent to the national target.

He spoke of the Prime Minister's recent visit to lay the foundation of a $21 billion green hydrogen project, a joint venture project. Additionally, Reliance is investing `65,000 crore in biofuel initiatives in the state, he said.

He underscored initiatives such as scaling rooftop solar power generation to democratize power production, encouraging electric vehicle (EV) adoption to reduce carbon emissions and integrating drone technology for the application of fertilizers, ensuring efficiency and environmental safety.

“We will produce quality products for the global community and handhold industrialists to succeed. The speed of doing business is now our mantra,” he affirmed.

As part of the Vision 2047 roadmap, he outlined ten guiding principles focusing on cost optimization, environmental balance, and positioning AP as a leader in the global green hydrogen and fuel markets. “With our well-equipped ports like Kakinada, we are poised to export green energy products to the world,” he said.
