Girl student's hair cut while asleep at hostel room

Kurnool:An unidentified person provocatively cut the hair of a first-year BiPC student of SR Junior College from Sunnipenta while she was asleep in her hostel room on Sunday night.
The assailant(s) placed lemon pieces filled with kumkum and pasted turmeric on her head in what looked like a black magic ritual.
The student realised this when she woke up the next morning. She also found a threatening message in the room, which read, "Kill You." She told her hostel mates about the incident, and the news spread widely through the college, causing fear among other students.
This provocative act led to protests on Tuesday with students, parents and members of local women's associations gathering outside the SR Junior College. They sharply criticised the college management. Anand Babu, state president of the BC Students Federation, called for a thorough investigation.
Guruvaiah Setty, regional inspecting officer (RIO) of the Intermediate Board, later came and investigated the matter. The protesters blocked his car, forcing him to leave the spot in an auto-rickshaw. They also held a dharna outside the college, which disrupted classes for several hours.
The RIO assured the protesting groups that the authorities were taking the incident seriously and a complete investigation would be done to identify the person(s) behind the heinous act.
The parents of the student alleged that some people were creating a terrifying atmosphere in the college, unable to appreciate the good marks their daughter had been securing. Some protesting students meanwhile damaged furniture and window panes of the college.
