Gate No. 67 Jammed at Prakasam Barrage
Authorities believe that a set of fishing boats struck the pillars near gate no.67 during the earlier flood, potentially damaging the gate's rollers.

Vijayawada: On the Prakasam Barrage across the Krishna River, a gate has been jammed, making it impossible to raise it in order to let floodwater flow into the sea downstream on Saturday.
The authorities found the gate number. 67 out of a total of 70 gates have the problem of their rollers stuck, so they are making alternate arrangements to deal with the situation. As about 2.44 lakh cusecs of water are discharged from the barrage in the evening, the officials must wait till the flood situation has subsided before arranging an alternate temporary gate connecting both pillars to restrict water flow as needed.
As a result, they will only be able to fix the broken gate once the river level has dropped. Authorities believe that a set of fishing boats struck the pillars near gate no.67 during the earlier flood, potentially damaging the gate's rollers. This damage may have caused the gate to suddenly jam. However, they've ruled out any immediate danger since the water is currently overflowing the gate, and a temporary replacement will be installed shortly.
Meanwhile, authorities complained to the town police against a section of the media for trying to spread misleading information on the issue of the gate number. 67 by claiming a major impact on the city. Earlier too, NTR district collector G. Lakshmisha had to release a video clip giving clarification of no danger of inundation to the parts of the city when trouble mongers spread misinformation claiming that the Budameru rivulet was swelling again to cause trouble to the people living in low-lying areas in the city.
