Ganta concerned over negativity around Vizag Film Club

They asserted that the Vizag Film Club will be developed into a premier model institution. Both the MLAs indicated that the NDA coalition government is contemplating to transform Vizag into a film hub.

VISAKHAPATNAM: Bheemili MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao on Saturday expressed concern over the negative narrative surrounding the Visakhapatnam Film Club.

Addressing media after visiting the Film Nagar Cultural Centre in Thimmapuram of Vizag along with Visakhapatnam North MLA P. Vishnu Kumar Raju, Ganta explained that the film club had been established at Vizag in 2015 to attract film industry.

However, following the change of government in 2019, the original intent of the film club got compromised and it became politically influenced. He lamented that the club founded with noble intentions has deviated from its original purpose.

Srinivas Rao felt a thorough reform is required at the Visakhapatnam Film Club, which currently has 1,500 members.

Speaking on the occasion, the Vizag North MLA said club members must be made accountable for their actions. Vishnu Kumar Raju said he has submitted his nomination for the president’s post in the forthcoming elections at the club. He said they have brought various issues of the club to the attention of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. He asserted that their involvement in the elections is in the interests of the club, rather than personal gain.

Both Srinivas and Vishnu Kumar articulated the importance of land allocation for the Film Club and construction of various facilities. They asserted that the Vizag Film Club will be developed into a premier model institution. Both the MLAs indicated that the NDA coalition government is contemplating to transform Vizag into a film hub.
