Gannavaram: 3 Killed In Multi-Vehicle Crash On New Vijayawada Bypass Road
According to reports, a container lorry heading from Vijayawada towards Eluru lost control after a tyre burst and rammed into a car and an oil tanker ahead of it. The impact pushed the oil tanker into a motorcycle travelling in front.
Vijayawada: Three people, including a mother and her three-year-old son, were killed in a horrific road accident on the new Vijayawada bypass near BB Gudem, Gannavaram, on Tuesday afternoon.
According to reports, a container lorry heading from Vijayawada towards Eluru lost control after a tyre burst and rammed into a car and an oil tanker ahead of it. The impact pushed the oil tanker into a motorcycle travelling in front.
Two occupants of the car and the motorcyclist died on the spot. The deceased have been identified as Jayamangala Nagadurga, 28, and her son Karunya Nagasai, 3, from Penchikalamarru in Kaikaluru mandal. The third victim, Dasari Venkateswararao, 50, a resident of Singnagar, Vijayawada, was on the motorcycle. Nagadurga’s husband, Vijay Kumar, and his brother, who were in the car, sustained injuries and are undergoing treatment.
The car was crushed between the container truck and oil tanker and was completely mangled in the collision.
Gannavaram police reached the spot and moved the wrecked vehicles to prevent a traffic jam on NH-16. The bodies were shifted to the Gannavaram Government Hospital for post-mortem. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
