Ganesh Idols Of Varied Materials, Jaggery To Bangles

To participate in the lottery, people will have to purchase a ₹50 ticket.

Kakinada:Various pandals have put up Ganesh idols of different materials, which have been drawing the attention of the people venturing out to see the numerous forms of the Lord.

There is a 13-feet Ganesh made of 1,000 kilos of jaggery at Bhanugudi junction. Civil engineer Gatti Satyanarayana, one of the sponsors of the idol said Ganesh Laddu will be to a devotee as Prasadam through a lottery. To participate in the lottery, people will have to purchase a ₹50 ticket.

Near the Temple Street, the Ganesh idol is made of one lakh bangles. On the last day, these bangles will be distributed to the devotees. At Vinukondavari Street, Lord Vinayaka is on the Mushika (rat) Vahana. Near Santha Cheruvu, the idol is made of groundnuts.

At Patha Peddapuram, where many sculpture artists reside, there are 12 clay Ganesh idols at different pandals, with their heights ranging from 4 feet to 7 feet. These idols are getting special attention as they are environmentally friendly. A tamarind trader has donated 12 pen drives to these pandals with 45 each devotional songs. His wish is that the organisers play other songs than devotional songs.

At Amalapuram, there is an Environment Ganapathi stealing the show, as it is made of plants and leaves. At Kadiyam, Kadiyapulanka and Rajendranagar in Rajamahendravaram Lord Ganapathi idols have been made with coins.

The Venugopala Sanskrit Prachar Sabha is organising Pandit Sadassulu on occasion of the Ganapathi Navaratrulu. During his speech here on Thursday, Ayurveda scientist Dr. Jathavallabhula Lakshmi Narayana said the 21 types of leaves and plants used in the worship of Ganesh have many medicinal properties.

Sanskrit Pandit Gottumukkala Venkata Satyana Narasimha Sastry spoke on Doota Vakhyam on what Lord Krishna said in Mahabharata as the emissary of Pandavas.
