Ganesh Festivities: Anitha Asks SPs to Stay Alert

Vijayawada:State home minister Vangalapudi Anitha on Saturday directed district Superintendents of Police (SPs) to remain vigilant to maintain law and order across Andhra Pradesh, particularly during the upcoming Ganesh festivities.
She held a teleconference with SPs of various districts and discussed the law and order situation, arrangements for Ganesh celebrations and the process of granting permissions for festivities.
Anitha directed the SPs to create widespread awareness among Ganesh Utsav committees and the public about the government’s single-window system for obtaining permissions for celebrations. Officials should also explain in advance the rules and regulations to be followed while setting up Ganesh pandals and conducting immersion processions, she said.
The home minister instructed the police to take all precautionary measures to prevent any untoward incidents during the festivities. Adequate security arrangements should be made to ensure that celebrations do not disrupt law and order, while sensitive areas should receive special attention, she said.
Anitha also discussed with the SPs the issues taken up at the law and order review meeting held on Friday in the presence of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. She stressed that there should be no negligence in protecting public safety and maintaining peace.
The home minister asked senior police officials to remain alert, assess potential trouble spots in advance and take preventive measures to ensure the Ganesh celebrations pass off peacefully across the state.
