Fresh Waste Processing Plants to be Operational by June-End
The minister instructed municipal commissioners to immediately provide all required infrastructure facilities to ensure speedy completion of the projects

VIJAYAWADA: The Andhra Pradesh government is giving high priority to scientific solid waste management in urban areas, municipal administration and urban development minister Ponguru Narayana said on Friday while reviewing the progress of Fresh Waste Processing Plants being established across municipalities in the state.
Chairing a review meeting in Amaravati, the minister directed officials to complete the establishment of all the plants and commence waste processing operations by the end of June.
The meeting was attended by Swachh Andhra Corporation managing director Anil Kumar Reddy, representatives of contracting agencies and municipal commissioners, who participated virtually.
Narayana said the government had undertaken the installation of Fresh Waste Processing Plants in 107 municipalities to scientifically process the solid waste generated daily in urban local bodies. During the review, he sought municipality-wise details regarding the status of construction works and the progress achieved so far.
The minister instructed municipal commissioners to immediately provide all required infrastructure facilities to ensure speedy completion of the projects. These include allocation of land, electricity supply, water connections and road connectivity for the plants.
He stressed that delays would not be tolerated and directed officials concerned to ensure that all pending works were completed within the stipulated timeline so that waste processing activities could begin by June-end.
Narayana said effective solid waste management was essential for maintaining urban cleanliness, protecting public health and improving environmental sustainability in towns and cities across the state.
