Free cancer services to 40 million people in AP
Minister for medical and health Satya Kumar Yadav clarified that the government will provide an injection worth ₹45,000 for heart disease free of charge at all community health centres across the state

Vijayawada: Minister for medical and health Satya Kumar Yadav asked private hospitals to step forward and provide better medical services to public. He highlighted that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has established a medical assistance programme for the poor, offering up to ₹25 lakh in support. An increase in the budget for medical services has led to an allocation of ₹18,500 crore with 6.5% earmarked for healthcare.
The minister inaugurated Peddeswar healthcare centre which has been upgraded as a state-of-the-art multi-specialty, trauma, and critical care centre, on Sunday at Vijayawada in the presence of minister for excise Kollu Ravindra, government whip Bonda Umamaheswara Rao, MLAs Gadde Rammohan Rao and Kamineni Srinivas.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that free medical services are being provided to people on a wide scale through NTR Vaidya Seva and the government is working to provide corporate medicines even to the poor.
The minister pointed out that the Centre has raised its funding for medical services to 12% in the budget. He announced that free medical services for cancer prevention would be available to 40 million people through government hospitals. He emphasised the importance of early detection of cancer, advising women to undergo cancer screening at its initial stages, stating that 63% of cancer can be prevented.
The minister clarified that the government will provide an injection worth ₹45,000 for heart disease free of charge at all community health centres across the state. He also mentioned that government doctors are conducting free eye examinations for students suffering from eye ailments.
Dr Pallem Peddeswara Rao said that the new hospital, which has been modernized as the largest critical care centre in the state, will serve people of this area more extensively. Hospital CEO Dr Akash Pallem said that they are continuously working with the aim of providing world-class medical services to people of this area at a low cost with the slogan ‘Corporate Quality-Affordable Reality’.
