Four Ugandan Women Detained After Assault Complaint in Vizag
Police verify visa status, alert FRRO as inquiry into foreigners continues

Visakhapatnam: PM Palem police have taken four Ugandan women into custody following a complaint by an autorickshaw driver who alleged that he was assaulted by them.
According to the police, the women had been staying at a guest house in the city for the past few days and had become acquainted with the autorickshaw driver, identified as Appala Raju of PM Palem, through an online application.
During verification, police found that one of the women had entered India on a business visa, two others were on medical visas and another was holding a student visa that had expired several years ago. The women were reportedly residing in Delhi and Punjab before arriving in Visakhapatnam.
Police said the women possessed photocopies of their passports and visas, while the original documents were reportedly kept in New Delhi. One of the women had been living in Visakhapatnam despite her visa having expired four years ago.
The police have shared details with the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) in Hyderabad and intelligence agencies for verification. Officials said no evidence of criminal or anti-national activity had been found so far. The women have been accommodated at a government-run women's home in Arilova pending further inquiry and a decision on possible deportation.
