Four Minor Girls Survive Suicide Attempt in Anantapur

All four students hail from Tadipatri mandal, and three of them belong to the same family. The incident was triggered after the hostel warden contacted their parents over their poor academic performance.

Kurnool: Four girl students of KSR Government Junior College for Girls in Anantapur district reportedly attempted to die by suicide on Wednesday. The incident came to light on Thursday when their blood samples were collected during a medical examination. The students, who study at the college, stay at the nearby SC Girls’ Hostel.

All four students hail from Tadipatri mandal, and three of them belong to the same family. The incident was triggered after the hostel warden contacted their parents over their poor academic performance. According to the warden, the girls were not studying properly, and when they failed to respond to her warnings, she informed their parents. Fearing the consequences, the girls attempted to end their lives.
College staff shifted them to the government hospital immediately, where doctors treated them. Their condition stabilised and they were discharged by evening. College principal Nagarathna said she visited the hospital and found the students safe. She added that there was no serious issue and the reasons behind the extreme step would be assessed. Two-Town Circle Inspector M. Srikanth said no case had been registered as no complaint was lodged.
