Four-Lane Highway Proposed To Link Mulapeta Port With Bhogapuram Airport

Agriculture minister K. Atchannaidu said the development of Mulapeta Port, proposed industries and improved connectivity would create employment opportunities for local youth


Visakhapatnam: The state government is taking steps to develop a four-lane national highway along the coast connecting Mulapeta Port in Srikakulam district with Bhogapuram International Airport, agriculture minister K. Atchannaidu said on Sunday.

Speaking during his visit to Suradavanipeta village, the minister said the proposed road would improve connectivity between the port and airport and boost commercial and industrial activity in the region.

He said the development of Mulapeta Port, proposed industries and improved connectivity would create employment opportunities for local youth. The government was also taking steps to provide free training and give local youngsters priority in jobs generated by upcoming industries.

Atchannaidu said a 2,250-crore Coromandel industry was proposed in the region. He also announced a 650-crore drinking water project to provide Vamsadhara river water to households through tap connections.

The minister said the coalition government was prioritising rural roads, drinking water, electricity and other basic infrastructure.

On fishermen’s welfare, Atchannaidu said financial assistance during the annual fishing ban had been increased from 10,000 to 20,000. The social security pension for fishermen had also been raised from 3,000 to 4,000, while the diesel subsidy was being continued.
