Nellore: Ballikurava police have cracked a series of theft cases involving rotavators and tractor trolleys in Bapatla and Prakasam districts, arresting four persons and recovering stolen property worth about Rs 8 lakh.

The accused were arrested during a special operation conducted by the Ballikurava Sub-Inspector near the outskirts of Chennupalli village. Police recovered five rotavators and one tractor trolley from their possession.

According to the police, the four accused, who are residents of Gokanakonda village in Vinukonda mandal of Palnadu district, were working as sand tractor drivers. Addicted to bad habits and facing financial difficulties, they allegedly formed a gang and, over the past three months, targeted agricultural equipment by stealing rotavators and tractor trolleys from villages during night hours and selling them for money.

Police linked the accused to six theft cases — three in Ballikurava mandal and one each in Martur, Addanki and Santhamaguluru police station limits. All the stolen equipment, valued at about Rs 8 lakh, was recovered.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of Darsi DSP B. Lakshminarayana, with the efforts of Santhamaguluru CI K. Venkata Rao, Ballikurava SI Y. Nagaraju and their teams, using technical analysis and field investigation.

The district SP appreciated the officers and staff for their effective investigation and prompt recovery of the stolen property.
