Former YSRC MLA Prasanna Kumar Reddy Appears Before Police In Remarks Case
A police team led by DSP Ghattamaneni Srinivasa Rao questioned Prasanna Kumar Reddy for nearly two hours: Reports

TIRUPATI: Former YSRC MLA Nallapareddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy appeared before the police at the Nellore Rural DSP office on Friday for questioning in a case registered against him over alleged objectionable remarks made against Kovur MLA Vemireddy Prashanthi Reddy.
In the run-up to his appearance, there was widespread speculation that he would be arrested. As a result, a large number of YSRC leaders and supporters gathered outside the DSP office in a show of solidarity. However, after nearly two hours of questioning, police did not arrest Prasanna Kumar Reddy and allowed him to leave.
Officials clarified that he was served a notice under Section 41A of the Code of Criminal Procedure, in accordance with the Supreme Court’s judgment in the Arnesh Kumar vs. State of Bihar case. The ruling states that in offences punishable with imprisonment of up to seven years, where arrest is not considered necessary, police must issue a notice for appearance instead of making an immediate arrest.
A police team led by DSP Ghattamaneni Srinivasa Rao questioned Prasanna Kumar Reddy for nearly two hours. Officials stated that 40 questions were posed to him as part of the inquiry. They further indicated that this was the initial round of questioning and that he may be summoned again.
Speaking to the media after the inquiry, Prasanna Kumar Reddy confirmed that police had asked him 40 questions and that he provided written answers as requested. He maintained that he had done nothing wrong and stood by his previous comments, which he said were within the bounds of political discourse.
He stated that criticism and counter-criticism are common in political life and remarked that if cases are filed for such comments, courts and jails would be overwhelmed. Addressing the allegations that he had shown disrespect towards women, Prasanna Kumar Reddy said such claims were deliberately spread to malign him. He warned that those engaging in such campaigns would not be spared.
