Visakhapatnam:YSRC leader and former minister Seediri Appala Raju was taken into custody by police from his residence at Kasibugga in Srikakulam district on Wednesday in connection with a road accident case involving his son.
According to police, Appala Raju was booked on allegations of attempting to substitute another person in place of his son, Aarav Varma, who is in judicial remand in connection with a fatal road accident in which a shepherd died. He has also been booked on charges of allegedly tampering with evidence.
Police alleged that the former minister attempted to shield his son by implicating another individual in the case. Following the rejection of his anticipatory bail petition by the court, police took him into custody after deploying personnel outside his residence.
