Former Minister Anil Yadav Mired in Legal Tangles
Kovur police serve notice on YSRC leader

Tirupati: Former minister P. Anil Kumar Yadav finds himself in multiple legal tangles, with the Kovur police serving him a notice on Thursday, citing “objectionable remarks” against Telugu Desam’s Kovur MLA Vemireddy Prashanthi Reddy.
Police have directed the YSRC leader to appear for inquiry at the Kovur police station on Saturday, July 26.
A case has been registered based on a complaint filed by MLA Prashanthi, who alleged that derogatory and personal remarks were made by Yadav against her during a recent public meeting at a Kalyana Mandapam in Kovur.
The complaint said former MLA Nallapureddy Prasanna Reddy made some offensive comments, after which Anil Yadav made inappropriate remarks at the same gathering.
Police had already served a notice to Prasanna Reddy two days ago. On Thursday, when police visited Anil Kumar’s residence, he was unavailable. The notice was affixed to his door by a Kovur SI.
In a separate case, Anil’s name surfaced in an ongoing investigation into illegal quartz mining in Nellore district. Police recently arrested B Srikanth Reddy, a close associate of Anil Yadav, in Hyderabad. During interrogation, Srikanth reportedly named Anil and former minister Govardhan Reddy as alleged partners in the mining operation.
Sources say Anil is likely to be added as an accused in that case as well.
Reacting to the developments, YSRC Nellore district working president and MLC P Chandrasekhar Reddy accused the ruling coalition of targeting opposition leaders. “Our leaders are being harassed for questioning the TD government. The arrests and forced statements are part of a political script by the TD that has failed to implement its poll promises,” he said.
He said Srikanth Reddy had informed the magistrate that he was coerced into signing a police-drafted statement, but his plea was disregarded. “We are confident that Anil Yadav and Kakani Govardhan Reddy would come out clean in both cases,” Reddy said.
