Former DGP Kottakota Srinivasa Reddy Felicitated in Nellore
Event marks release of his poetry book; ex-top cop urges focus on education, healthcare over infrastructure

Retired DGP Kottakota Srinivasa Reddy was honoured in Nellore for his distinguished service, where he emphasized human development and unveiled his poetry collection Pumjuthoka Kavitha Samputi.
Nellore: A grand felicitation ceremony was held on Sunday at the Town Hall, Nellore, in honour of retired Director General of Police (DGP) Kottakota Srinivasa Reddy, who served as Superintendent of Police in Nellore 25 years ago and earned wide acclaim for his crackdown on white-collar crimes and rowdyism.
The event also marked the release of his poetry collection, “Pumjuthoka Kavitha Samputi.” Speaking at the function, Srinivasa Reddy voiced concern over the lack of employment opportunities for educated youth. “Building massive structures does not mean progress,” he remarked, stressing that human development must take precedence over infrastructure expansion.
He underscored the need to prioritise education and healthcare for genuine development. Referring to Nellore’s legacy of public movements, including the historic anti-arrack agitation, Reddy observed that new social movements may be necessary to correct systemic flaws. He also hinted at his next book, describing it as “a bullet” aimed at exposing failures in governance and public administration.
The event drew several dignitaries, including former MLC Vithapu Balasubrahmanyam, and noted personalities from various walks of life, who praised Reddy’s exemplary service record and his enduring commitment to public welfare.
