Former Deputy Mayor Surrenders in Murder Case
Police take prime accused into custody in Pedda Dastagiri murder investigation

Kadapa: Former deputy mayor Bandi Nityananda Reddy, the prime accused in the murder of Pedda Dastagiri, surrendered before Superintendent of police N. Vishwanath on Monday.
Pedda Dastagiri was murdered on April 9 in the Alamkhanpalle area on the outskirts of Kadapa, triggering tension in the region.
Nityananda Reddy appeared before the SP along with his advocate and surrendered. Police immediately took him into custody and shifted him to another location for questioning.
Police had earlier deployed heavy security at the court premises following information that the accused might surrender there. However, he directly surrendered before the SP in a sudden move.
Investigators initially examined multiple angles, including the suspected involvement of a ganja gang and possible real estate disputes. Following a detailed probe, police concluded that Nityananda Reddy had a key role in the murder and had been searching for him for several days.
Officials said the surrender would help speed up further investigation into the case.
