Former CJI N.V. Ramana Says Technology Creates ‘Miracles,’ Cites Declining Engineering Placements

He expressed unhappiness that placement rates are also declining in IITs.

Vijayawada: Former Chief Justice of India Nutalapati Venkata Ramana said technology not only creates miracles, but also easily finds ways to solve problems. Addressing the 37th graduation day celebrations at RVR & JC College of Engineering in Chowdavaram in Guntur district on Saturday, Justice Ramana quoted a recent report, which revealed that only 10 per cent of India's 15 lakh engineering graduates are likely to get jobs. He expressed unhappiness that placement rates are also declining in IITs. In 2024, only 60 per cent of IIT graduates got placements. The former CJI pointed out that the situation may worsen with the newly introduced restrictions in the US. Council of Higher Education chairman Professor K. Madhu Murthy asked engineering students to turn their problems into opportunities. Those present on the occasion included AP Women’s commissioner Rayapati Sailaja, college secretary Rayapati Gopala Krishna, governing council member P. Gopi Chand, college principal Dr. Kolla Srinivas, Academic and R&D director Dr. K. Ravindra, Finance & Administration director Dr. N.V. Srinivasa Rao and heads of various departments of the college, students and their parents.
