Forest staff allege assault by Srisailam MLA, seek justice from Deputy CM

Kurnool: A team of the forest department in Prakasam district has complained that Srisailam MLA Budda Rajasekhar Reddy and his aides attacked them while they were on night duty at the Sikharam check-post on Tuesday.
The forest staff lodged a complaint with the One Town Police in Srisailam on Wednesday, seeking action against the legislator and his followers. The victims belonged to Scheduled Castes.
According to P Karimullah, president of the AP junior forest officers association, Markapuram unit, a team comprising deputy range officer Ram Naik, beat officers Guravaiah and Mohan Kumar, along with driver Karimullah of Nekkanti forest range, were on duty at the Sikharam check-post around 10pm. The MLA and his supporters reportedly arrived at the spot, leading to an altercation between the two groups.
The association alleged that the MLA’s followers forcibly took the forest staff from Sunnipenta to Srisailam and assaulted them. The staff members claimed they were confined at a guest house and manhandled through the night before being released at around 4am on Wednesday.
The forest employees urged deputy chief minister Pawan Kalyan to intervene and ensure justice. They also demanded that stringent action be taken against the MLA and his associates under the relevant acts.
