Forest Officials Give Details of MLA Attacking Staff

Staff wonder why police are diluting the case, with no arrests even after a week.

Kurnool: The AP Forest Department has submitted a detailed report to the state government on Srisailam MLA Budda Rajasekhar Reddy attacking its field staff, which has led to outrage in the region.

As per the forest personnel, brutally assaulted at a guest house, the MLA, in an inebriated state, along with his henchmen, had personally attacked them. However, police have booked a case against local Jana Sena leader Ashok Routh as A-1 and the legislator as A-2. Further, police did not invoke the SC/ST Act, despite the MLA also assaulting the members of these communities.

According to forest staff, the incident occurred when MLA Rajasekhar Reddy, in an inebriated state, crossed the Sikhareswaram check post and drove away in a government forest jeep after an altercation. Ashok Routh allegedly physically assaulted one employee, while the legislator personally attacked another.

Despite the gravity of this offence under Section 132, which is cognizable and non-bailable, no arrests have been made, raising doubts about the police action.

Victims and officials maintain that such conduct undermines the rule of law and accountability.

Markapur Forests’ deputy director Sandeep Krupakar Gundala confirmed that a report has been submitted to the government. He claimed ignorance about subsequent police proceedings and developments.
