VISAKHAPATNAM: The two-day rainfall in Visakhapatnam has transformed the city into a cool and cloudy haven, captivating both residents and visitors. The misty charm has encouraged city dwellers to step out and turn their outing into a memorable experience, whether with long walks or drives, or indulging in piping hot snacks.
Along the scenic beach road near Rushikonda Palace, families are arriving in cars, sipping coffee from flasks, and admiring the rain-swept sea.
R. Dakshayani shared her monsoon moment with the Deccan Chronicle, “Taking a drive along the beach road or walking on the beach during the rainy season is magical. With green hills on one side and crashing waves on the other, it feels like stepping into a movie. Watching the rain dance on the sea is one of life’s sweetest pleasures. It doesn't cost a penny.”
Rushikonda's Backside Beach, a lesser-known gem, has become a favourite destination during the monsoon. Surrounded by tranquil hills and the vast sea, it offers both solitude and scenic beauty, attracting nature lovers who seek a more intimate coastal experience.
For those in search of panoramic views, Ross Hill is the place to go. Ninth-grader B. Naina exclaimed, “You can see the entire city and harbour glistening in the rain.” Her mother, Vijayalakshmi, laughed and added, “Don’t forget to bring a flask of hot tea or snacks; it’s part of the joy.”
Tenneti Park, known for its dramatic waves and rocky shoreline, along with the haunting silhouette of the stranded Bangladeshi cargo ship, too attracts crowds. The rain enhances the natural beauty of the area, as wet sand and stormy skies create a cinematic backdrop for wanderers during the monsoon.
Far away from the city's hustle and bustle, Meghadri Gedda Reservoir provides a peaceful retreat. One of the district’s oldest water bodies, it is encircled by lush hills and shimmering waters. N. Manohar, who arrived at the place with his family, remarked, “It looks wonderful when drenched in rain.” The serene landscape and gentle drizzle create the perfect setting for reflection and relaxation.”
