Fishermen, Aqua Farmers Advised to Remain Alert as Cyclone Threat Looms
Nellore district collector Himanshu Shukla urged fishermen to avoid venturing into the sea and advised aqua farmers to safeguard ponds amid the threat of heavy rain and strong winds.

Fishermen and aqua farmers in Nellore district have been advised to take precautions as a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify into a depression over the next two days, bringing heavy rain and strong winds along the coast.
District collector Himanshu Shukla on Friday said wind speeds could reach 60 to 70 kmph. He advised fishermen not to venture into the sea, rivers or reservoirs for fishing and asked those already at sea to return to safe locations immediately. Fishermen were also asked to secure their boats, nets and other equipment in elevated and safe places.
The collector advised aqua farmers to regularly monitor salinity and dissolved oxygen levels in their ponds and take necessary steps to maintain them. He also asked them to strengthen pond bunds and take precautions to prevent breaches due to heavy rain.
He urged fishermen and aqua farmers to remain alert and follow safety precautions in view of the expected weather conditions.
