Fisherman, Pregnant Wife Rescued After Losing Way In Palnadu Forest

Vijayawada:Police rescued a fisherman and his four-months pregnant wife after they lost their way in a forest in Palnadu district. The couple had gone fishing in the Krishna river and spent more than a day trying to find their way before the fisherman dialled 100 for help.
Kodamanchali Srinu, a native of Tadepalligudem in West Godavari district, had travelled with his wife Dhanalakshmi to Zenda Penta village in Veldurthi mandal on April 19 to earn a livelihood through fishing in nearby areas of the Krishna river.
On May 2, the couple ventured out on a boat to fish and laid their net in the river. While waiting for the catch, they walked towards the river embankment and unknowingly wandered into the Kotha Pulla Reddy Gudem forest. From around 7.00 am onwards, they remained lost and attempted to walk back to their hometown, only to go deeper into the forest. They spent the night there, gripped by fear as they heard the cries of wild animals.
The next morning, Dhanalakshmi suggested calling the police. Acting on her advice, Srinu called 100 and informed them of their situation, expressing fear after hearing animal sounds and requesting rescue.
Veldurthi SI Shaik Samandar Vali, along with three constables, immediately responded. The team travelled 15 km from the police station and trekked another 6 km inside the forest, tracing the fisherman’s mobile signal. They eventually located the couple and brought them safely back to the police station.
“We were told they were terrified by the sounds of wild animals. Knowing there are four tigers in the same forest, we rushed to the spot and fortunately found them safe,” the SI said.
