First Phase of Amaravati’s Infra Works to Be Completed by August 2028

Narayana said the first phase of Amaravati’s infrastructure development would be completed by August 2028.

Vijayawada:Urban Development Minister P. Narayana on Wednesday accused former chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy of spreading misinformation about Amaravati and attempting to mislead the people with politically motivated allegations against the capital city project.

Narayana said the first phase of Amaravati’s infrastructure development would be completed by August 2028.

After inspecting the development works at Kondaveeti Vagu, Pala Vagu and the West Bypass in Amaravati, Narayana rejected claims that farmers who pooled land had not received plots. The government had acquired 35,057 acres through land pooling and allotted plots to 34,563 farmers. Only 494 acres remained pending due to court cases, inheritance issues and family disputes, he said.

The minister said registrations had been completed for 63,347 of the 70,876 plots allotted under the scheme. The remaining registrations were pending because of legal disputes, absentee landowners, and issues involving Inam and endowment lands.

Rejecting the allegations that Amaravati lacked visible progress, Narayana said trunk roads, layouts, government buildings, residential complexes and other major infrastructure projects were advancing rapidly.

He asserted that chief minister Chandrababu Naidu was committed to developing Amaravati into a world-class capital.

On monsoon preparedness, the minister said special measures had been taken at Kondaveeti Vagu and Pala Vagu. Works were under way at 69 bridges to ensure smooth water flow and prevent flooding.

The capital’s flood-management system, designed with inputs from Dutch experts, “includes reservoirs with a combined storage capacity of 0.54tmc and pumping facilities capable of discharging 24,000 cusecs,” he said.
