Visakhapatnam: Fire Service Week was launched at the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant on Tuesday by the CISF fire wing, with programmes scheduled to continue till April 20.
RINL director (projects) Arun Kanti Bagchi, who attended as chief guest, said fire services personnel are first responders and highlighted the importance of the “golden hour” in rescue operations during fires, accidents and natural calamities.
CISF Commandant Jitender Babu Duvvada said awareness activities would be conducted during the week to educate plant workers, their families and schoolchildren on fire safety measures.
Leaflets and booklets on fire safety and the use of fire extinguishers were released on the occasion.
