Fire Destroys Fishing Boat, One Injured At Nizampatnam
According to Bapatla fisheries joint director Srinivas Naik, the boat was about to set sail with an eight-member crew for a week-long fishing trip when it was gutted in the mishap.

Vijayawada: A mechanised fishing boat, which was preparing to head out to sea, caught fire due to an electrical short circuit at Nizampatnam Harbour in Bapatla district around 7.30 am on Saturday, leaving a fisherman with burn injuries.
According to Bapatla fisheries joint director Srinivas Naik, the boat was about to set sail with an eight-member crew for a week-long fishing trip when it was gutted in the mishap. The fire destroyed the entire vessel, including 2,700 litres of diesel, fishing nets, ice and food supplies, causing an estimated loss of Rs 29 lakh.
The crew members threw a domestic gas cylinder into the sea to prevent an explosion. The injured fisherman was shifted to the government hospital at Nizampatnam for treatment.
Police registered a case and are investigating the incident.
