Film Body Seeks Cabinet Focus on Industry Development
Dileep Raja noted that the government had acted swiftly on several welfare initiatives, including enhancement of pensions, repeal of the Land Titling Act and filling of teacher posts

VIJAYAWADA: Founder of the Movie Artists Association–Andhra Pradesh (MA–AP) and filmmaker Dileep Raja has urged Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to place film industry development on the Cabinet agenda, alleging that the sector has been neglected since the present government assumed office.
Addressing a meeting of the MA–AP executive committee at Guntur on Saturday, chaired by director Achchanna Srinivasa Yadav, Dileep Raja sought the announcement of a clear policy framework for the growth of the film industry in the Cabinet meeting scheduled for February 3.
He said that despite nearly 40 Cabinet meetings since June 24, 2024, no concrete steps had been taken to promote the film industry in Andhra Pradesh, nor had any roadmap been outlined for developing basic infrastructure to facilitate film shootings in the State.
Referring to the delay in reviving the prestigious Nandi Awards, he questioned cinematography minister Kandula Durgesh over the continued silence on the issue. He pointed out that Telangana had already replaced the Nandi Awards with the Gaddar Awards, while Andhra Pradesh was yet to take a decision.
Dileep Raja noted that the government had acted swiftly on several welfare initiatives, including enhancement of pensions, repeal of the Land Titling Act and filling of teacher posts. On similar lines, he said, priority should be accorded to the film industry, which could generate employment and contribute significantly to the state’s economy.
