Kakinada: The Union ministry of labour and employment has informed the Lok Sabha that the Female Labour Force Participation Rate (LFPR) in Andhra Pradesh increased from 43.3 per cent in 2021-22 to 44.8 per cent in 2023-24 and has remained at the same level in 2025, according to the Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS).
The ministry said the Worker Population Ratio (WPR) for women also increased from 41.8 per cent in 2021-22 to 43.1 per cent in 2023-24.
It stated that the Centre is implementing several flagship programmes to improve women's employability, including the Skill India Mission, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, Jan Shikshan Sansthan, National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme, Craftsmen Training Scheme and FutureSkills Prime.
The ministry also highlighted the Employment Linked Incentive Scheme and the National Career Service Portal as key initiatives to promote employment opportunities and skill development.
The information was furnished in Parliament in response to queries raised by Rajya Sabha member Sana Satish Babu during the Monsoon Session, seeking details on women's workforce participation in Andhra Pradesh, skill development initiatives, the role of self-help groups and measures being taken to promote women's economic empowerment.
