Farooq Calls for Strict Adherence to Road Safety Norms

He appealed to the public to cooperate with enforcement agencies to reduce road accidents and fatalities

Kurnool: Minister for law and minority welfare NMD Farooq on Saturday urged motorists to strictly adhere to traffic rules to prevent road accidents.

The minister was speaking as the chief guest at the valedictory function of the 37th National Road Safety Month celebrations organised by the Lorry Owners Association in Nandyal, along with district collector G. Rajakumari.

Farooq said the rapid increase in the number of vehicles had intensified traffic congestion and raised the risk of accidents. He stressed that every citizen must follow traffic regulations and practise safe driving.

He warned that using mobile phones while driving and driving under the influence of alcohol or other intoxicants were extremely dangerous. Motorists, he said, should stop their vehicles at the roadside before attending phone calls and remember that human life is invaluable.

The minister directed transport department officials to intensify accident-prevention measures across the district. He also called for strict action against motorists not wearing seat belts and cautioned auto drivers against carrying passengers beyond the permitted limit.

He appealed to the public to cooperate with enforcement agencies to reduce road accidents and fatalities.
