Farmers Honoured At Eruvaka Dhanya Lakshmi Utsavam

Women farmers performed Dhanya Lakshmi Puja to paddy grains at the temple, following which new clothes and paddy seeds were distributed to them.

NELLORE: Eruvaka Dhanya Lakshmi Utsavam was celebrated with religious fervour at the Sri Udaya Kaleswara Swamy Temple in Gandavaram on Monday on the occasion of Eruvaka Pournami. The programme was organised by the Hindu Dharma Parirakshana Trust.

Women farmers performed Dhanya Lakshmi Puja to paddy grains at the temple, following which new clothes and paddy seeds were distributed to them.

APSRTC regional chairman and BJP Kisan Morcha national vice-president Sannapureddy Suresh Reddy, Trust state coordinator Kota Sunil Kumar, district coordinator P.T. Jagannatham, library corporation chairperson M. Shanthi Kumari, former MLA Mekapati Chandrasekhar Reddy and civil supplies corporation director Vemireddy Pattabhirami Reddy participated in the celebrations.

Addressing the gathering, the speakers described agriculture as a "great yajna" and farmers as its true performers. They said Eruvaka Pournami marks the beginning of the agricultural season, when farmers traditionally worship farm implements, paddy seedlings and grains. They stressed that the prosperity of society depends on the well-being of the farming community and called for continued support for farmers.

Public representatives, temple officials and a large number of women farmers attended the programme.
