Fake Gold Seller Arrested in Proddatur
Accused duped man of ₹6.5 lakh by selling gold-plated rods; fraud exposed after quality check

Kadapa: Police in Proddatur arrested a man for allegedly cheating a buyer by selling fake gold.
The accused, identified as Kannayya from Vinayakapuram village in Puttur mandal of Tirupati district, was taken into custody after he duped a local resident.
Police said Kannayya sold gold-plated rods to Ravikumar in Proddatur, claiming them to be genuine gold. Growing suspicious, Ravikumar got the material tested, which revealed that it was fake.
During the investigation, police seized the gold-coated rods from the accused. It was found that Kannayya had collected ₹6.5 lakh from Ravikumar in instalments.
A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
