Excise cops seize 4,500 bottles of spurious liquor on poll eve
The excise police in West Godavari busted an election-linked liquor racket by arresting two persons and seizing nearly 4,500 bottles of suspected spurious liquor hidden in an aqua farm near Narasapur.

Vijayawada:The excise police in West Godavari busted an election-linked liquor racket by arresting two persons and seizing nearly 4,500 bottles of suspected spurious liquor hidden in an aqua farm near Narasapur.
With MLC polls scheduled for Thursday, the excise authorities kept a close vigil and arrested a person carrying two bottles of Royal Grande Malt Whisky (180 ml). A follow-up raid resulted in the seizure of the liquor stocks.
The cops arrested two men-- Gollamandala Rajababu hailing from Kopparru village of Narasapuram mandal and Barre Jayaraju from Narasapuram town.
They linked the liquor racket to Narasapur municipal chairperson Barre Venkataramana. She allegedly arranged large quantities of liquor through her husband Jayaraju.
West Godavari district prohibition and excise officer Kumareswaran said the department would initiate strict action against the errant.
